Structural Project Engineer

The Structural Engineer will perform structural engineering design that includes developing calculations, creating plans, preparing technical material specifications, and performing daily coordination of the structural aspects of the project.

Position Responsibilities

  • Mentor structural support staff.
  • Assist Director with developing budgets and project proposals.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines for construction coordination as needed.
  • Coordinate with subconsultants and project managers.
  • Perform structural engineering design and analysis.
  • Design structural elements of each project using hand calculations, computer software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or RISA
  • Participate in team and client design meetings.
  • Implement design or analysis tasks in accordance with building code requirements.
  • Prepare design details and construction plans to clearly convey the intent of the structural design for coordination with drafting.
  • Review, comment and edit as required on all project plans, specifications, and related documents prior to submitting for QA review
  • Review, comment and coordinate all shop drawing reviews to ensure compliance with design.

  • Proficient in the use of computer analysis software (e.g., RISA, Enercalc, etc.)
  • Proven knowledge of engineering design software and equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to provide clear and accurate direction.
  • Working additional hours beyond regularly scheduled hours as requested by management.
  • Meet stringent deadlines.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide mentoring as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of work experience as a Structural Engineer.
  • Professional Engineer License is required.
