Jet “A” Fuel Tank Replacement

Acela was retained to provide design and construction administration services, including construction observation, for this Jet “A” Fuel Tank Replacement project located at the Jake Arner Memorial Airport. The existing 10,000-gallon jet fuel tank was at the end of its useful life.  This project involved replacing the existing 10,000-gallon tank with a new 12,000-gallon tank and pump equipment. The fuel tank was designed to meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PENNDOT) requirements.  The larger tank accommodates larger, more efficient fuel delivery and meets the current fuel filtering requirements.

Carbon County Airport AuthorityWe completed the design documents, provided construction administration services, including bidding services, and will be providing construction observation through the completion of the project. Acela provides coordination with the Contractors and the Owner. Acela observes the progress and quality of the construction work, provided field checks of materials and equipment installed, review progress schedules, attended progress meetings, and other project related meetings. Acela serves as the liaison between the Contractor, and the Owner’s representative.  In addition, Acela reviews Contractors payment applications, prepares daily reports of Contractors activities, weather conditions, and observations in general related to the project. Acela prepares the closeout documentation for submission to PENNDOT for grant reimbursement to the Owner.

Acela completed the design phase work within the contracted time frame and worked very closely with the Owners’ representatives to develop site specific solutions to meet the Authority’s needs.

Crack Sealing & Line Striping and Runway/Taxiway

Crack Sealing and Line StripingAcela was retained to provide design and construction administration services, including construction observation, for this Crack Sealing & Line Striping and Runway/Taxiway Project located at the Jake Arner Memorial Airport. The existing pavement for the 3,000-foot long runway and adjacent parallel taxiway showed significant pavement surface cracking. To extend the life of the pavement, this project involved field measuring the length of cracks and categorizing the cracks into four different types of pavement crack repair methods. The method of repair for each type of crack was identified and measured. The line striping was designed to meet the current AC 5340-1M sealing standards with enhanced black borders for greater visibility. The crack sealing and line striping project was designed to meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PENNDOT) requirements.

REIL Light Replacement

REIL lightAcela was retained to provide design and construction administration services, including construction observation, for this Runway End Indicator Light (REIL) project located at the Jake Arner Memorial Airport. The previous REIL lights were non-functional. This project involved replacing the REIL lights with updated omni-direction lighting that meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PENNDOT) requirements.
